On March 1, Seattle’s Rad Power Bikes announced the launch of its new RadRunner 3 Plus. This new model is aimed at the rider who wants more utility out of their e-bike.
Along with the launch of the RadRunner 3 Plus, came the launch of several new cargo-focused accessories it hopes will make the transition from car to e-bike easier.
Rad Power Bikes says the RadRunner 3 Plus features “enhanced comfort, upgraded technology, and superior rideability — all expertly engineered to complement the unique needs of an ever-growing community of electric bike enthusiasts.”
As a matter of fact, Phil Molyneux, the CEO of Rad Power Bikes, had this to say: “Designed for work, play and everything in between, the latest additions to our lineup of e-bikes and accessories are as versatile as our riders.” He added, “We know our e-bikes are an extension of our riders’ lifestyle, and we’re excited to see how each individual within our expansive Rad community customizes their ride to upgrade their lives and make everyday experiences, even errands, joyrides.”
RadRunner 3 Plus
The RadRunner 3 Plus is an all-purpose utility e-bike that can help you explore new places and hit all of your errands. It has a max speed of 20 mph with a throttle and five levels of power assist. Rad Power Bikes says the RadRunner 3 Plus has gone through extensive testing to create an e-bike that offers more stability, cargo capacity, and climbing power.
It offers a patent-pending frame design with an increased payload of 350 pounds, when compared to RadRunner 3. It uses a step-through frame for easier mounting and dismounting, and can fit riders from 4’11” to 6′ 2″. The included suspension fork and the ergonomic saddle is said to offer improved comfort.
The frame also features an extended rear rack that can be used as either space for cargo or a passenger. The RadRunner 3 Plus has a range of 25 to 45+ miles per charge and is able to accommodate an optional dual battery — a first for Rad Power Bikes. This optional dual battery allows for an extended range, making it possible for riders to reach over 100 miles on a single charge. This option would make swapping the car for a bike a much easier transition.
Tektro hydraulic brakes help the RadRunner 3 Plus stop, even with a full load. The brake levers can be adjusted to fit a large range of hand sizes. Rad Bikes says the newly designed, custom motor was optimized to climb hills 10{09e594db938380acbda72fd0ffbcd1ef1c99380160786adb3aba3c50c4545157} faster than the RadRunner 3.
The easy-to-read display clearly gives out real-time stats, such as power output, trip mileage, time, and the state of the battery charge. Along with the easily removable battery, the RadRunner 3 Plus comes with full fenders, a high-visibility headlight, a tail light, and tires with reflective stripes on them.
The RadRunner 3 is completely customizable with the addition of a pannier rail and new accessory mounting points to add to the storage options. This new model is compatible with all of Rad’s extensive accessory offerings, allowing the rider to personalize their eBike with over 350 combinations.
