  • 2023 Hyundai Venue gets a more powerful 116PS, 1.5-litre diesel engine.

  • Side airbags aren’t exclusive to the top-spec SX(O) trim anymore.

  • Reclining rear seats, rear-seat armrest and cup holder now limited to SX(O) trim for the diesel powertrain.

  • Petrol variants get a price hike of up to Rs 25,000, no change for diesel trims.

  • The Hyundai Venue now retails between Rs 7.67 lakh and Rs 13.11 lakh (ex-showroom).

For 2023, Hyundai has slightly updated the Venue with minor changes to its variant-wise features, while the biggest update has been made underneath the bonnet. Naturally, the prices for the sub-4m SUV have also been hiked. Let’s take a look at what’s what:

What’s new?

In terms of variant-wise features, not much really. The only two changes include the availability of side airbags from the S(O) trim, which was previously exclusive to the top-spec SX(O) trim.

The other change is the deletion of reclining rear seats, rear-seat armrest, and cup holder from the SX trim of the diesel powertrain which can now be had only in the top-of-the-line SX(O) trim. However, you can still get the features in the SX trim of the petrol powertrain.

Also, the base-spec of the Venue N Line gets side airbags, previously limited to its top-spec N8 trim.

Now to the crux of the update: the diesel powertrain. The outgoing model was a 1.5-litre unit with an output of 100PS and 240Nm. The engine capacity has been kept the same, but Hyundai has somehow managed to eke out 16 additional ponies from the same unit. It is now on par with the output of the 1.5-litre diesel found in the Kia Sonet. However, the Venue only gets a six-speed manual, unlike the Kia, which also has an automatic option.

With the diesel engine becoming more powerful than before, one would expect the prices for the same to creep upwards. But surprisingly, Hyundai has gone and upped the prices of all the petrol variants instead of the diesel ones.

The maximum increment of Rs 25,000 has been given to the turbo-petrol variants of the Venue, while prices for the naturally aspirated variants have been hiked by up to Rs 25,000. The base-spec has received the minimum bump of Rs 6,000. No changes have been made to the Venue N Line’s prices.
